Blog Post 1: Poetry: Out in the Dark and Daylight
In this poem, the author describes being in different situations through a short poem of being outside. She speaks of different months, different situations, but it all comes back to out in the dark and daylight, and concludes with the statement "that's where I like to be".
In this poem, we see poetic techniques like rhyme in the poem used to connect the ending of stanzas in rhyme. We also see the repetition of the title of the poem at the beginning of each stanza with the exception of one.
One motivational activity for the students to use this book could be to have them come up with a similar poem where they must pick two opposites and find the similarities in the two through the use of poetry and connect them at the end of a few lines.
